But he is later defeated in a duel by Bhallala Deva and arrested for his crime. The story later moves to the Mahishmati kingdom, where Kattapa meets Baahubali who is now in ascetic form in the Mahishmati royal palace to seek permission from him to marry his sister when he remains silent. After much persistence, Baahubali gives him the permission, though with an intention of making Kattapa repent for his act in killing Shiva. Soon after that, Baahubali comes out of the Mahishmati royal palace to learn about several events happening in Linga-puram following the death of Shiva. Kattapa and Sivagami were planning to banish the innocent villagers who took shelter at that place, where Bhallala Deva and Devasena lived as a couple. Baahubali learns about this and obstructs their plan as he sets to Linga-puram to save those people.
